Puzzle BB-2 SHUTOUT

Bill was the lead-off man, batting first on his team's line up during a regular nine-inning baseball game.  He went to the plate to bat every inning, and had five hits during the game.  Furthermore, his team loaded the bases every inning.  How was it that at the end of the game, they were shutout and did not score any runs in all of those innings.  Provide a scenario how this could have happened.

Bits and Beyond...

HOLD

A hold is credited to a relief pitcher any time he enters a game in a save situation, records at least one out and leaves the game never having relinquished the lead.  A pitcher, however, cannot finish the game and receive credit for a hold, nor can he earn a hold and a save in the same game.
