Making a Tangram Set

Tangrams have been a popular recreation in China.  A tangram set can easily be made from a piece of square cardboard or a piece of material that can be cut to pieces.  First, prepare a square piece of cardboard.  Draw grid lines on the cardboard as shown (black lines) so that you form an array of 4 by 4 squares as shown:

Then, draw the blue lines as shown above.  Carefully cut the board along the blue lines to form the seven pieces of the tangram set.  It should result in seven pieces consisting of five triangles, a square, and a rhomboid.

Using the tangram set you have made, you can rearrange these seven simple geometric pieces into extraordinary patterns, and enjoy hours of intriguing puzzle challenges.
